For those of you who missed the chance to join the first group, you can join again on our Summer edition of the 21-Day Detox program! This week’s Wellness Wednesday is inspired by those who are doing what they can do feel better, grow stronger, and boost health-- but something’s not quite right.
Ever feel like you’re enjoying your new found healthy habits, behaviors, and indulgent treats for your spirit and still something is amiss? You’re not alone! For most, healthy swaps, extra sleep and a green smoothie a few times a week just don’t cut it. Even just five years of exposure to environmental toxins can build up into a massive energetic (and physical) blockage. These blockages lead to pain, disease, and anxiety from accumulated stress.
Your chronic headaches, back pain, or digestive distress may boil down to something more complicated than a diagnosed condition: you may need to makeover your health entirely.
We’ve highlighted the most powerful, potent and scientifically proven methods to create radical changes in your health and well being, giving you your best chance at healing!
Overhaul Your Dietary Intake

While being the most challenging path to healing, making the choice to redefine how you fuel your body can be your best ally or your worst “frenemy.” When a woman is pregnant, her doctor, doula, naturopath, herbalist, and even family are quick to ensure that she is eating well. Diverse foods, filled with nutrients, and prenatal vitamins are a must. If she chooses to eat as she pleases, the child may be born with neurological deficiencies and disease states.
When your mother was encouraged to eat well to ensure you were born healthy, it makes sense that we must carry that responsibility as adults. Our entire health depends on nourishing our cells.
How To: Get Back to Nature
It’s simple: eat plenty of colorful produce to satiety.
- Vibrant lemon juice muddled with fresh basil, cold-pressed olive oil and apple cider vinegar make a flavorful zesty dressing atop cabbage, kale, and spinach.
- Local, grass fed meats or organic tempeh are saturated with healthy fats, minerals, and protein.
- Check your eggs: are the yolks golden orange?
- Instead of downing a package of chocolate sandwich cookies, shoot for dark chocolate squares and berries. The high polyphenol content in this tasty dessert will actively fight free radicals to prevent cellular damage!

This may sound like a hokey, crunchy way to boost your health-- but we’re here to tell you that above all else, this simple mindful change can work wonders on your overall well being!
When you are in a stressful situation-- let’s say, running late for an appointment and an accident on the freeway is preventing you from arriving on time-- how would you manifest your stress? Would your shoulders inch higher, shortening your neck and squishing your spinal cord? Would your eyebrows furrow, your grip tighten on the steering wheel? Would slow cars begin to bother you more than usual?
Once you catch yourself doing this, simply breathe in and exhale entirely.
Smile once you catch yourself physically stressing out. This acknowledges you were able to override your stress response, preventing the snowball effect of anxiety from happening.
How To: Quick, 2 Minute Pick-Me-Up
Feeling nervous about an interview or important engagement? Begin an open-ended dialogue with yourself about your favorite things: it can be as simple as a sunny day, or cuddling with your pet. Then, compare these feelings to yourself-- in what ways are you like a sunny day? How does your own compassion mimic the love you feel when bonding with your pet?
This isn’t about memorizing a mantra; you are recognizing that when you feel happy from external experiences, they are really just mirroring what’s already within you.

While we often challenge ourselves to “try harder,” “finish more,” and “go faster,” sometimes the most important thing was that we showed up that day! Placing unnecessary stress on yourself will quickly aggregate stress and heavy energetic weight that leads to disease or pain. When you feel the urge to press forward, even though you’re overwhelmed, challenge yourself to be successful instead. What does being successful look like?
How To: Take Daily Inventory
Each night, either in your mind or on a notepad (digital or manual), acknowledge the most important thing you did that day; refrain from mentioning the thing you couldn’t accomplish, or the half-completed project you wanted to finish last week. Quickly write that accomplishment down and scribble a smiley face next to it. Then, write down one thing that you would be elated to finish tomorrow.
Finally, write one task that absolutely must be done (has a firm due date attached to it) tomorrow with an exclamation point on the end.
Additionally, you may add a quick message to yourself to read the following night:
- “(Your name), you can do it!”
- “Forget what’s overzealous, and accomplish what’s necessary!”
- “Be proud that you got out of bed today!”
